ChatGPT AI Visibility Monitoring

GeoScript monitors how ChatGPT responds to commercial, local, and comparison queries that affect your business — tracking mentions, recommendation rate, and response text across prompt categories.

How GeoScript observes this engine

  • GeoScript sends deterministic prompt sets to the OpenAI Chat Completions API (api.openai.com/v1/chat/completions) via a live adapter.
  • Each call uses real API credentials against the production OpenAI endpoint — not a simulation or cached replay.
  • The raw HTTP response body is preserved before any parsing, so the observation record reflects what the engine actually returned rather than an interpreted version.
  • Observation latency, token counts, and actual model version are recorded alongside each result.
  • Retries occur only on server-directed 429 or 5xx responses. Timeouts are terminal to avoid double-billing and to record an honest failure.
  • GeoScript uses a consistent, temperature-controlled prompt template across observation runs to minimize variance and support meaningful comparison over time.

Signals available

  • Business mention detection — whether your business name appears in the response.
  • Recommendation rate — the proportion of observed prompts where your business is mentioned or recommended.
  • Response text — the full verbatim answer returned by the engine, preserved for each observation.
  • URL extraction — HTTP/HTTPS URLs mentioned in the response text, extracted via pattern matching. This is a best-effort signal; ChatGPT does not emit structured citation objects.
  • Historical tracking — results accumulate over time so you can see how responses change across runs.
  • Observation metadata — prompt, engine, model version, latency, and timestamp per result.

What GeoScript does not measure

Explicit limitations (§127)

  • GeoScript cannot observe dwell time, click-through behavior, or how a user interacts with ChatGPT's response after it is returned.
  • GeoScript does not have access to OpenAI's internal ranking signals, training data, or model parameters.
  • ChatGPT does not emit structured citation objects. URL extraction from response text is noisy and may miss some references or include false positives.
  • GeoScript observes responses at observation time — each query is a real API call, not a replay of a user session. Personalized responses a specific user may receive can differ.
  • Observation results reflect the engine's response at one point in time. GeoScript cannot guarantee a future response will match.
  • GeoScript does not measure ad placement, paid search features, or monetized surfaces within ChatGPT.
