Content Genome

GeoScript's structured, typed extraction of every meaningful signal from a client's website — the foundation for all optimization work.

Definition

The Content Genome is GeoScript's proprietary process and data structure for extracting, classifying, and representing all meaningful content signals from a client's public website. After crawling and snapshotting a site, GeoScript deterministically extracts typed content blocks — service descriptions, location signals, FAQ items, structured data (schema.org), meta information, entity definitions — into a stable representation that does not depend on the current state of the page. This becomes the factual substrate for all GeoScript analysis, recommendations, and AI visibility measurement.

The Content Genome is deterministic: the same site content always produces the same genome. It is versioned and immutable — changes to the site produce new genome versions, not silent overwrites.

Why it matters

AI engines read and reason over content the same way humans do, but they look for specific signals: is this business clearly named? Is its location explicit? Does it serve the topic the user asked about? The Content Genome is how GeoScript answers those questions systematically, at scale, across every page of a client's site. Without a Content Genome, optimization recommendations would be guesswork. With it, GeoScript can identify exactly which signals are missing or weak, and propose targeted, typed interventions.

Example

GeoScript crawls a landscaping company's 14-page website. The Content Genome extracts: 3 named services (lawn care, hardscaping, seasonal cleanup), 1 service area block (missing — the site never explicitly states which cities it serves), 0 FAQ blocks, 1 LocalBusiness schema on the homepage (incomplete — missing address and service area), and 2 H1 conflicts. These structured findings become the basis for 5 optimization recommendations.

How it differs from related terms

The Content Genome is GeoScript's internal representation, not a public format. It is not the same as generic structured data (schema.org markup) — it extracts and classifies existing content whether or not the site uses schema. It feeds into the Optimization Engine, which produces recommendations, and into AI visibility monitoring, which measures outcomes.
